Board of Directors of Bahrain National Antidoping Organization Holds Its Annual Meeting and Reviews Record Achievements

The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Antidoping Agency (BNADO) held its regular meeting for the fourth quarter of 2025, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Khalid Alshaikh. The Board discussed key topics, including the approval of the proposed budget for 2026, a review of achievements under the National Antidoping Strategy, and an evaluation of implemented testing and training programs.

 

The meeting focused on reviewing the Agency’s journey since its establishment in 2022, the accomplishments it has achieved—including the international recognitions and accolades received in this short period—alongside future to ensure the continuity and support of all activities aimed at preserving sporting integrity in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This aligns with the international standards set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

 

His Excellency the Chairman of the Board affirmed that the Agency is steadfast in implementing its mission to eradicate the scourge of doping and protect Bahraini sports, in line with national directions. He stated that BNADO will focus in the coming years on developing testing programs and enhancing awareness and education programs across all sports levels.

 

For his part, his excellence Mr. Saad Alnefaie, the CEO of BNADO, reviewed the progress made in implementing the national strategy, highlighting key achievements. These included expanding the testing program scope, with tests conducted in and out of competition in 2025 reaching an increase of approximately 265% compared to 2023. He also noted the advancement of education and training programs, through organizing 67 awareness workshops and seminars under its training and education program, with the participation of over 1,205 individuals from sports field in the country.

 

Significant international accomplishments were also presented, such as hosting the first Gulf Antidoping Forum and the Agency’s participation in global events, most recently supervising the testing operations during the Third Asian youth Game held in Bahrain in October 2025.

 

The Board discussed the proposed budget for 2026 and the strategic initiatives for the same year, which include launching new initiatives for digital transformation in doping awareness and increasing the efficiency of the Agency’s operational processes.

 

The Board members expressed their satisfaction with the level of achievement, emphasizing the necessity of continuing work at an accelerated pace to achieve the strategic goals that position Kingdom of Bahrain among the developed countries in the field of antidoping globally.
